It's all imagination. I walk around with my scenes and conversations twirling around in my head until I get a sense of how it's going to go. Right now I'm working on an argument/conflict and I'm playing different scenarios out in my mind...then I'll sit and write it with time. I consider the imagination part writing as much as the writing part. I see my characters...I know what she says, I'm having a little difficulty with his words..he's scared now, he wants her back but risks everything he has worked so hard to achieve if he takes her back...I think I have it. I'll sit and write it soon. It'll come.
I think you just have to trust the process...don't force it. If you are stuck on something move on to another chapter and come back to it. I know my story and I've done this quite a few times. So much so that I've written stuff I've forgotten was already done
Good luck!

Bright side, I have been writing for pay again. I know I need a new strategy for storage. I think I am going to upload to gmail, so that I can access the doc from wherever I am (as long as there's wifi) and keep working. Right now it's housed on one laptop, but I am often on the other, so something as simple as inertia keeps me from adding words.
