Cloth Diaper Thread - Page 7

I'm sure my mom won't use them either, but to be honest, I'm pretty sure my mom wont change sposies either... She's not too mobile and I don't think she be watching baby for us at all, so I'll always be there to do it anyways. The fun part will be trying to get my brother to change them when we are over there.

So I'm in after many long debates with DH.

Soooo ... my current stash is:
6 small gdiapers covers (orange and cream) 55% off
6 medium gdiapers covers (orange and cream) 55% off
24 organic newborn prefolds from Green Mountain Diapers (which according to forums and you-tube videos fit both the small and mediums)
36 cotton wipes
a bottle of diaper lotion concentrate with 2 spray bottles

My need to get list is:
A dry diaper bag
A wet bag
A changing pad

Now, I've seen mixed reviews on gdiapers. People either love them, or hate them. Does anyone here have experience? I jumped on the chance since I got them for a great price brand new. Worst case, if I hate them, I can re-sell and get something different.

My stash is embarrassing to list... perhaps I will do it later!

OK I'm started..

I've got
12 infant prefolds
a few newborn covers (from a friend, they're actually in transit via usps so I don't know how many)

12 regular prefolds
4 covers
24 kissaluvs size 2

Large Kushi
Large FB

and there may be more, that I'm not thinking of..

On my To Buy list
more prefolds and pretty covers. Honestly, I'm almost ready I think. I'm not opposed to fancier diapers, but prefolds are just dandy for me.

My experience with gdiaper covers was that we loved them later... we would just tri-fold an infant prefold and lay it in there and it worked great. But that was after DD started pooping solids - so probably around 6 months when she started eating solids.

Before that, when they have the runny BF poops, it all just runs out the side, so you end up needing tons of covers as well because everything gets dirty when they poop - and they poop A LOT in the beginning!

Not to mention, the gdiapers don't have super duper leg gussets, so a lot of that poop ends up on whoever is holding the baby.

Don't sell your covers yet though, because you really never know what's going to work for you and your babe. It's good to have a nice sprinkling of all different kinds of stuff to try out. Also, my DD was totally small enough to fit into the smalls when her poos were finally solid enough to not slide out the side

my stash -

12 prefolds
15 pocket diapers (with 10 inserts)

uuuuh thats it. I think though I am going to just go with more prefolds, use the pockets as covers and get more covers. I sort of fell in love with prefolds + snappis when I got them, so much easier than I expected!

I love the prefolds too

Nothing much has changed in my stash lately. I went crazy at the beginning when I felt like I couldn't get much else ready. The only thing I have left to get for now is a dozen flats (I want to try them out, and I know they are so useful for other household things if I don't like them) and some more cloth wipes. Oh, and a nice changing pad (or 2). I'm holding out on buying all this stuff until GMD gets their new organic flats and cloth wipes... later this week I think.

Hmm. I have a dozen small prefolds, a dozen premium size (rather huge) a dozen small crickets, a dozen large, and a few random diapers (a little beetle, some kissaluvs, some motherease). I never needed more, because my parents refuse cloth so at the 3 month mark he spends 12 hours in sposies. Wonder if this time will be different, since I refuse to buy them sposies when I have cloth!

We EC with cloth backup, mostly prefolds. No covers at home, but we use pretty basic covers when out.

When dd was a baby we bought 36 smalls and 24 standard prefolds, and hmm... 6 covers in each size?

I added someone else's stash to ours, so I think we probably have more like 5 dozen smalls and 50 standard/premiums. And at least 8 covers in every size.

My kids come out fitting in small covers, they don't get a chance to wear NB covers at all.

I also have hmm... maybe 8-10 FB in each size, M, P, L, and a random assortment of fitteds and a few AIOs that were handed down from friends. And a few gorgeous soakers that were made just for my kids by special family/friends.

I have a soaker on needles to finish, and a few thrift sweaters that I should make into covers too.

Hahaha, we have like the same stash. I'm starting to hate the Bamboo fitteds, though, because solid-food poop stains them so horribly.

My in-progress stash:

4 doz orange edge GMD prefolds (NB) (I know, a lot, but we only have a shared washer in the basement, so I'm hoping to spread out the wash a little bit...)
2 doz yellow edge GMD prefolds (S)
6 XS Thirsties Fab Fitted (just ordered!)
3 S Thirsties Fab Fitted (also just ordered!)
2 OS Tiny Tush Pocket Diapers (a gift)

1 S Bummis WhisperWrap
1 Thirsties Duo size 1

Definitely need more covers. I'm leaning towards the Thirsties Duo, because I like the idea of an extra leg gusset, but I'm worried that baby may have chunky legs (like mama!) and so don't know if they'll be too tight. Also considering getting a few more Fab Fitteds, if I like them when they get here. (I was originally going to get the Kissaluvs size 0, but the found the Fab Fitteds on clearance, so frugality won!)

Good to know! Why do you prefer them over the Duos?
