Cell phone savings

We wound up going 337 minutes over our plan this past billing cycle. The plan we'd been on had tiered overage charges, and we were told this would stay the same when we switched to a new plan in December. It didn't stay that way. We were charged $0.45/min for each of the 337 minutes, meaning we wound up with an almost $250 bill! I called to see if we could get back on a tiered overage plan. Because the CSR couldn't do that (plan had expired), he credited all $155 in overages! So just by calling and asking to change plans, my bill this month went from $248.85 to $93.xx!

Thats great!! Dp actually had luck with AT&T recently - when he went to pay his bill he realized he had been over on minutes for a few months (he is terrible about paying bills on time) - but the guy on the phone changed his plan and upped the minutes effective the month he started going over. His monthly bill is higher, but he saved around $600.

Verizon called because I was over my plan's minutes for last month. They offered to put me in the next higher plan for one month which saved me $20+ and then I was automatically returned to my usual plan. I couldn't believe they called me to offer a way to save money. Maybe they don't want the calls from people upset about being over their minutes?

Or perhaps they want to keep you as a customer.
