Is it stupid...? - Page 2

I didn't with my first UC and don't plan to with this one, either. I did have a placenta smoothie and had very light PP bleeding that stopped altogether by 2 weeks.
If I had a serious hemorrhage I would transport.

I am planning my 4th UC this May, and for the last 3 I contemplated getting some herbs to have on hand, but just never did. Turns out I never needed them, just nursed LO immediately after birth and kept up with massage. If need be this time around I would most definitely take a chunk of the placenta. I hear it works better and faster than herbs anyway. If you yourself are getting the feeling that maybe you need to have something onhand, there is nothing wrong with going with your gut to achieve your level of comfort. I totally understand the limited financial situation. I too, would hate to make an expensive purchase and then have no use for it (although if you never opened the containers and saved your receipt you could always return them to the store, right?) Do whatever feels right for you to be calm, relaxed and prepared for the arrival of your new LO. Best of Luck to you!

Blessed Be!

Nope, I don't feel like i need to have anything on hand. I just feel like i ought to feel like I need them, kwim?

And true, I never thought about returning them... I don't think I could do that with online stores, but i probably could with my local (and very expensive) store. Hmm.... I'll think about that

Thank you!

Oh, and this is somewhat OT, but has anyone read anything about holding a piece of the umbilical cord in your cheek to help with retained placenta?

I'm almost positive I saw that some place, but can't track it down now.

i took sheperds purse with my UC and i think it really helped with the bleeding. buut i was also massaging, nursing, and i took a piece of placenta as well. i took it as more of a just in case since i was feeling lightheaded. im glad i had them but i waited til the last minute to order too. a friend actually gave me the SP since she didnt need it anymore.

eta, after i took it, the bleeding stopped and i just had 2 huge clots and very light lochia, with my daughter i didnt take anything (actually a shot of pit i think) and bled heavily for days.

I've had herbs/tinctures on hand for every birth and never needed to use them. Of course now it seems like such a waste!

I don't have a history of hemorrhage so I am wondering if I'll even need any this time around, LOL . . .Hmmm probably not.

I had placentaout and helmhalt. I swallowed some of each.

Can you perhaps team up w/ another mama to share the expense? IIRC I only used a spoonful of the stuff and it was a bottle of several fluid ounces....plenty for several mamas. I would assume it's quite simple to keep it from being contaminated.

I gave all of my leftovers away to a woman who then drove out to her town and gave it to a HB mama there.
