I am wondering if there is such a thing as a diaper cream that is "safe" to use with cloth diapers. I have prefolds and fitteds. By safe I mean a cream that won't ruin the diapers. I prefer something natural but effective. PinStripes and PolkaDots has a nice chart but I am wondering what other's experiences are. Are there ingredients to avoid? Are fleece liners effective at protecting diapers? Anyone have experience with Desitin Creamy, Balmex, or Burt's Bees Diaper Cream? What about Burt's Bees Skin Creme, it says it can be used as a barrier so woulld it be inneffective with an existing rash?

The main ingredient you want to avoid is Cod Liver Oil, as it will get into the diapers and make them stinky like fish!
Personally, I've used Weleda and California Baby, which have the zinc oxide (sp?) and remind me of other cream except they're more natural. They seemed to work fine for us with my first dd... however with dd2, my favorite new thing I've tried is this:
http://emmayanaturals.com/product_in...products_id=41
It seems expensive, but a little goes a long way and the stuff lasts forever (at least for us) plus we use it on other "boo boos"
I've also had fine luck with Earth Mama Angel Baby's Bottom Balm
good luck
I haven't actually used fleece liners, but from what I hear they work fine. If I was going to be coating my baby's bum all the time with a thick layer of cream I'd probably go that route... so easy to make your own since you can just get fleece from any fabric shop and cut it up the right size - or "recycle" an old fleece blanket...
