Another Solids Thread! (Aren't you excited?)

DS is almost 9 months old. He's shown all the signs of readiness for solids for 4+ months now -- been grabbing and lunging at our plates, sitting up on his own, ability to bring things to his own mouth, etc. But when I try to feed him or let him feed himself, he shows zero interest in the actual consumption of food. He's mildly interested to play with it, but he's not bringing it to his mouth, and when I try to feed him he's rarely interested (turns his head away, clamps his little mouth shut, etc). At 6 months I wasn't at all worried about delaying solids a few more months. But at 9 months I'm just wondering how long my milk is going to hold him over, and I'm also pretty worried about his iron intake. WWYD?

It sounds like your baby is perfectly fine. Some babies aren't ready to eat until 12mo+. Breast-milk will cover all nutritional needs for the first year or so. My best friend's DS didn't start eating solids until 14mo, then one day it just clicked on and he started shoveling it in!

My 3 year old barely ate much until he was close to 15 months. He just played with it. We started at 7.5 months and just let him lead the way. Around 14-15 months he just really started wanting food. He is a perfectly happy and healthy 3 year old now.

My 8 yo ds was like this. I kept offering, he kept refusing - up until he was about a year old. Then he started eating everything in sight - and hasn't stopped since!! As long as your lo is happy, I wouldn't worry too much about it - he'll eat when he is ready.
