advice on helping child cope with parent separation

My husband and I have separated over the weekend and decided I would take our DD to Europe where my family lives. We had already contemplated moving over there at some point because we can give her a better life there (family support, better employment opportunities and education). We talked about having me take my DD over there and once I'm settled in I would help him find a job over there and arrange for him to join us there. I'm expecting this to take about six months. We both are very open to meet each other's needs. We will skype and call as much as possible. My DD who's almost three has only met one auntie so far whom she loved and she will be able to get lot's of attention from my family overseas. My question is how can we help my DD with the transition of moving overseas and not being able to see her Dad for at least six months. Any advice, book or web site suggestion is greatly appreciated.

How old is she, and what is their routine, if any, now?

My kids were 1 & 3 when my X moved out, and I will say there was *very* little transition because of his very irregular schedule and minimal parenting when he did live with us. But, I think age and current relationship have a big impact on how things unfurl.
