Symptoms or issues during 2WW: towards end of 2WW mild nausea, tiredness. Nothing in particular tho' that couldn't have been PMS for me.
Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks: I ate pineapple during 2ww. But mostly to make myself feel like I had some control over the outcome. Before second (and successful) IUI I had two rounds of acupuncture for fertility.
What DPO you got your BFP: I think day 11...I wasn't sure about testing any earlier because of HCG shot. I had serial betaHCGs and progesterone testing done (and ended up on progesterone suppositories--probably b/c of a lab error but just in case--for the first trimester)
Number of babies: 1 due in April.
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: I would have wanted to know that it would take much longer than we anticipated (2 1/2 years after our first try we got the BFP that stuck) and that just because we were mentally/emotionally ready did not mean that it would happen according to our wishes at the time

pregnancy #1: "carsickness" nausea from very early on, sore nipples, blue veins in chest, very hungry, very tired, felt incredibly "different."

pregnancy #2: had had trigger shot, so tried not to pay attention to symptoms (very sore boobs, I think from trigger shot), was sure it hadn't worked until 13 dpo when I felt that familiar "carsick" nausea and decided to POAS

pregnancy #3: had had trigger shot, symptoms exactly like PMS, but a few days earlier than usual

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks:

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:

We were lucky in that we chose a donor who had excellent sperm numbers (purely by accident, although we had limited our search to donors with confirmed pregnancies). But I later learned how critical this piece is, and urge everyone to only use banks that will tell you the numbers ahead of time, and to limit your selection to those donors with above-average sperm (in regards to mobility and motility and quantity).

What a fantastic idea for a thread! I am totally unlurking for this one. These kinds of stories were my lifelines for for our whole TTC process.

Me -- 25 and 26
DW -- 26 (we started TTC with me and then switched to her)

What TTC strategy did you chose (Traditional,IVI, IUI, IVF, etc.)?
Both of us -- home insems with KD (we started with one KD, switched to another for location reasons, moved to a new state and returned to the first KD for my wife's attempts)

How many tries (months) before success:
Me -- 14 months, 14 tries, 2 confirmed early M/Cs and 1 suspected
DW -- success on 2nd try! (wow was that a welcome surprise)

How did you time your Insem ?:
Me -- temping, charting cervical position and mucous
DW -- ditto but the try she got pregnant on was a massive failure of timing on paper

Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.):
Me -- fresh sperm in a glass container less than one hour old
DW -- ditto

How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle ?:
Me -- eh, sometimes one sometimes two but I have no idea what we did on the M/C cycles
DW -- 1

Diagnosis or any known issues:
Me -- PCOS...really bad PCOS
DW -- nada. could get pregnant from a man throwing his hat on the bed.

Meds used ?:
Me -- at first, nothing. later, clomid 50 mg day 5-9 but it really didn't work well. if I try again for a subsequent pregnancy I will push for an HcG trigger instead. Progesterone suppositories.
DW -- progesterone suppositories during 2WW and first trimester of pregnancy but it was more an insurance policy than anything else

Symptoms or issues during 2WW:
Me -- Ha. HAHAHAHA. After that many attempts, who can tell.
DW -- breast pain earlier than usual for PMS, loss of appetite

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks:
Me -- Drugs
DW -- accidentally insemming somewhere between 12 and 24 hours post-O and consequently believing pregnancy is ridiculously unlikely

What DPO you got your BFP:
Me -- all of mine were around 12 on very high sensitivity tests
DW -- uh...somewhere between 16 and 19. We were both so convinced she was not pregnant that we kept justifying her lack of AF and didn't really notice it was so late until it was ridiculous.

Number of babies:
Me -- three angels from this attempt plus a fourth during college, zero living
DW -- 1 precious girl from this TTC journey. Hopefully several more in the future.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:
Um. When it was going to work? We had plenty of practical knowledge but the emotional uncertainty sucked big time.

What TTC strategy did you chose (Traditional,IVI, IUI, IVF, etc.)? We started out highly medicalized - surgery to remove polyps, clomid, IUIs, etc. After two years, one loss, and thousands and thousands of dollars we had to reconsider because money was running out. Rather than give up we switched to acupuncture, a known donor, at home DIY insems and herbs. Now I can't imagine it any other way - I'm so happy we ended up with a kd.

How many tries (months) before success: We tried pretty consistently for two years with the first method. And were successful after only four tries with an at-home kd insem.

How did you time your Insem ?: With fresh sperm we'd start insemming every other day around CD 12 (TCM and acupuncture had made my O day a pretty predictable CD 16 after years of a wonky cycle) and then do the day of a positive OPK and the day after. So CDs 12, 14, 15, and 16 - our kd is very understanding.

Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.): Tried for a long time with frozen, but was successful with fresh.

How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle ?: four. yikes.

Diagnosis or any known issues: PCOS, uterine polyps, and abnormal cervical cells.

Meds used ?: Clomid (not on successful cycle), metformin (again, not during successful cycle), TCM, acupuncture

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: I had an awful cold. I got negative hpts on CD 10, 11, and 12 - which usually devastate me, but somehow I just felt like they were wrong.

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks: Exercise made a big difference and of course acupuncture and TCM

What DPO you got your BFP: CD 13

Number of babies: One due in May

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: That most doctors and even some REs don't really know everything (or all that much at all) about fertility. PCOS is really a medical mystery on many levels and there's a one-size-fits-all strategy of clomid and metformin. I would have ready Taking Charge of Your Fertility early and started acupuncture immediately.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: My partner felt like there was another being present in our bed almost immediately after the insemination. Around 6 DPO I felt dizzy at work. Around 8DPO I started getting really hot at night, like needing to rip my clothes off to be comfortable and I'm usually a cold person, always bundled up. Around 10DPO my nipples started getting really painful. On the morning of 10DPO I had horrible cramps and a temp drop. I thought for sure that AF was coming. I think it was just his little embryo digging in to stay.

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks: We enacted plan humpy hump at the beginning of the cycle. I was eating a lot of fresh raspberries from my garden. Though I don't know if either of those two things did anything, I feel like they helped.

What DPO you got your BFP: 11 DPO

Number of babies: 1

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: I don't think anything could have prepared me for the ups and downs of the process. I mean I had read the forums here and books and stuff, but I still didn't realize how crushed I would be when it didn't work the first time. And I also didn't realize how excited I would be once I finally got that positive. I wish we would have charted a little more to begin with, though I think we timed the first one pretty well anyway.

pregnancy #1: first IUI was same day as peak on my fertility monitor IUI was at 8pm, 2nd IUI was at 8am, I am certain I ovulated overnight between the two IUIs.

pregnancy #2: first IUI day of first +opk and peak on my fertility monitor around 9pm, 2nd IUI was the following day around 11am. My chart was all messed up and according to my temperatures I didn't ovulate for another day...I was sure it didn't work, but it did!

Identity Release frozen sperm.

pregnancy #1: 2

pregnancy #1: I was super emotional, crying at the drop of a hat. I was sure it had not worked and after two years I'd had it. DW's first clue that it worked was how upset I was, and how I could not stop crying.

pregnancy #2: I felt nauseous on and off, I felt implant cramping and could tell it was not the same as pre period cramps.

Did you use any fertility-enhancing tricks:

What DPO you got your BFP:

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: It was one hell of a ride, but worth all the ups and downs!

What TTC strategy did you chose (Traditional,IVI, IUI, IVF, etc.)?Initially we wanted to do at-home inseminations using anonymous donor sperm. Because the donor we chose only had washed sperm left, we switched to doing IUI at the clinic. However, after the first cycle we decided to change the plan and use a known donor and inseminate at home.
How many tries (months) before success:Third time was the charm.
How did you time your Insem?:The successful try we inseminated once CD16, once CD17, and once CD18. I had guessed I'd ovulate on CD 18, which was a Sunday, and our KD planned to be in town Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. By Friday, I'd already had some EWCM, and we insemmed that night. Saturday I got a positive OPK, and Sunday I O'ed. Couldn't have worked out better than that.
Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.): Fresh KD sperm.
How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle?: Three.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: VERY sore boobs starting 3DPO. I did not even realize I could have symptoms that early, so I figured it must be something else. Extreme fatigue starting maybe 5DPO. Could hardly stay awake. Again, attributed this to other factors because I thought it was too early. Finally started thinking I might be pregnant when the breast pain extended way up into my armpits, and also (probably TMI!) my vag just smelled different than usual... not bad, but different, and I could tell when I used the bathroom.
Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks: ?:Chiropractic care for 4 or 5 months beforehand to help with my spinal misalignment affecting my uterus.
What DPO you got your BFP: 11DPO I got a somewhat light, but very obvious BFP!
Number of babies:Just one due in May!
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:For us, using the sperm bank/clinic was more stress than we needed! Paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars for sperm and IUI's made me totally on edge and my body retaliated and ovulated very very late that cycle! The two cycles with the KD at home were much less anxiety-ridden.

Chemical pregnancy 1st month, BFP 2nd and 3rd try (2 miscarriages - 9.5wks and 5wks), BFP 7th try (healthy baby girl born Dec. 30, 2009!)

How did you time your Insem ?:
Cervical mucus and opks. Also, had been tracking/temping cycles for almost a year before TTC and I had pretty regular cycles. Did first insem on first day of fertile cm, continued every day/second day until temp went up. Used OPKs to pinpoint O more accurately but relied on cm more.

Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.):
Fresh, KD

How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle ?:
3 times

Diagnosis or any known issues:
None that I know of.

Meds used ?:
None. But after my 2nd miscarriage, I did have weekly acupuncture specifically for fertility and chinese herbs until my next BFP (about 3 months).

Symptoms or issues during 2WW:
I "felt" pregnant each time. Not sure how to describe it. "Full" feeling. Whenever I had more symptoms but didn't "feel" it, I always got a BFN.

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks:
Not sure if it is considered a trick but I did consume a whole pineapple after inseminating.

What DPO you got your BFP:
10DPO for the last BFP

Number of babies:
1!

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:
That miscarriages (for no "real" reason) are super common - no one talks about them though. Acupuncture is amazing and the best TTC thing I did!

Unicornuate uterus and severe endometriosis dx'd a couple of years into trying.

Clomid early on, homeopathics, herbs, chinese herbs, Puregon, Synarel, Crinone, Pregnyl.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW:
Everything under the sun, stopped paying attention after about the first year.

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks:
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs for a year prior to IVF and during the IVF cycle, Thai massage the day prior to successful transfer, hypnosis.

What DPO you got your BFP:

How long and heartbreaking it would be.

Age: 28 when I conceived, will be 29 at birth

What TTC strategy did you chose (Traditional,IVI, IUI, IVF, etc.)?At-home IVI

How many tries (months) before success: First try was a chemical pregnancy. Took 8 tries total (7 were well-timed) to get a (hopefully!) sticky bean.

How did you time your Insem ?: I charted using FF, and tried to time them O-2, O-1, and O... but the successful cycle, the "three in a row" ended up being early, so we had to get one more in last minute when I got a +OPK. Timing ended up being O-5, O-4, O-3, and O. Not sure which one did the trick!

Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.): Fresh, KD

How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle ?: 4 times

Diagnosis or any known issues: None that we're aware of. I did have an annovulatory cycle last spring, but I am fairly certain it was due to the sudden death of my father.

Meds used ?: None (except for Rainbow One Prenatal!).

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: I really just "had a feeling" by 8dpo or so. I had very unusually high temps, and more-tender-than-usual breasts as well. But it was the "I have a feeling" that really tipped me off. It was so strong that it convinced me to pee on a digital at only 10dpo (w/ a positive result!!!)

Did you use any feretility-enhancing tricks: I drank a lot of grapefruit juice and green tea during my fertile time, and popped a Mucinex early in my fertile period to try to get the EWCM flowing. I also used an Instead cup after each insemination.

What DPO you got your BFP: 10dpo on a Clearblue digital

Number of babies: We're hoping one... but I would be lying if I didn't say that I had a slight feeling that there could be two in there.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: How to be more patient. How to remain focused on the good, and the positive. How to not let my entire life revolve around TTC. It really consumed me for a good 10-11 months.

What TTC strategy did you chose (Traditional,IVI, IUI, IVF, etc.)? IVI at home with medicine applicator syringe.

How many tries (months) before success: This was our second cycle of trying.

How did you time your insem?: We actually had to time it around KD's mid-term exams... He was only available the Sunday before O, which was 4 days prior to O.

Type of sperm used (frozen, KD...etc.): Known donor (fresh).

How many Insem's did you do on your successful cycle?: One.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Tender breasts, sore nipples, "vurps" but no accompanying nausea, LOTS of slicky, creamy CM, headaches, weepiness, and her vaginal smelled different. Not bad different; just more like the neutral/sweet smell that happens during the fertile time... only it lasted!

Did you use any fertility-enhancing tricks: I made herbal infusions (Susun Weed's method) of nettle, alfalfa and red rasberry leaf which she drank a cup each of daily. (Only during the first two weeks of each cycle with the rrl.) She also drank green tea during her fertile time.

What DPO you got your BFP: 15dpo. It was still negative on 12dpo.

Number of babies: This is DP's first pregnancy, but our second child.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: I would have liked to know where to get Instead Cups; it would have made insems a lot less messy.
