Not sure yet what the gender is of the little one due in May, but help me narrow down some of our girl name choices. Sib set is Aidan, Lucas, and _____? Our last name rhymes with Ricotta and the middle name is decided as it's a family name passed down through 4 generations.

Oh, and it's supposed to be ESMEE (Esme), so please disregard the typo of EMSEE.

Thanks!

I like Stella and Maya, but Stella reminds me of A Streetcar Named Desire.. not a completely negative association, but not really positive either.

I have a distant relative naming his daughter Annabelle, and the minute they told me I thought of a cow. It just feels like something I would name a cow if I ever happened to own one.

Wasn't there a kids' book about a cow named Annabelle? I know there was one about a bull named Ferdinand..

Ah, maybe this one?

Honestly, I like all of your names. You have some beautiful names picked out, Mama.

I really like Stella. Is your 2nd name supposed to read Esmee or is it really Emsee? If this LO had been a girl, she would have been Esmee Ione.

Oh! It's supposed to be ESmee NOT EMsee! Thanks for pointing that one out...

Stella and Annabelle

for both! Stella however is just jaw dropping!

I like all the names but some of them have bad conontations for me. I am sure if I met a cute little girl that would change, of course. Stella reminds me a shrew woman and a bat. Annabelle reminds me a cow and tinkerbell. Madeline is cute but I here it so often. Esme is VERY twilight. Are you a twilight fan??? I heard bc of that movie there are tons of Esmes, Alices, Bellas, etc.

Well, then, I would change my vote to Esmee from Annabel. I just think, in general, the name sounds better if the first and last name don't both end in "a," but that's a personal preference.

I guess I wouldn't go for names that ended in -a, since your last name does (Stella, Maya, Annabel if she were to go by Anna). Clearly some people wouldn't mind, but it would bug me.

i know stella's, annabelles and mayas, all of whom i adore. they are all great names.

I like Maya best with those sibling names. Stella would be my second choice.

Don't do the Esmee thing. Everyone will know she's named for Twilight.

You know, I did think about the Twilight connection. Although the Esmee name idea came from a nurse we had for my first son's birth. It would bother me a little if everyone thought that's where it came from....
If you had her a few years ago... there would have been no questioning it... would have been obvious it was your own name and cute. But now it would be pretty hard to convince most people you were not going through a Twilight phase while naming her....

Sort of how I used to like Jonas for a name.... but I would never do it now (Maybe Jonah... or Josiah but not Jonas)

Oh! If I'd known is was Esmee I would have picked that instead of Stella. So cute! (I don''t know anything about Twilight)

I like Maya. My baby's middle name is Rose as well.

If I yell

Your children's names to come in for dinner, I think Maya fits best.

Maya Kotta almost sounds like a cross between an Italian cheese and the saying, mea culpa. Not sure I like that....
darn it. I like Esme. I thought it was Emsee and I was like WTF? noooooo. Now I get it. I want to vote for Esme too!

Me too! I wanted to be like "It's from the Weezer song, people!!!!" Thank goodness it's a girl, so I didn't have to make that incredibly difficult decision.
