How typical is it this? - Page 2

I didn't bother to explain my decline. She didn't seem interested in my reasons for declining and she didn't ask. I was very polite and simply said "I'd like to decline that." When she went into the scare tactic lecture about deyhdration and febrile seizures...she did so in a manner that seemed intended to alarm me rather than inform me. She did not offer any signs to watch for in regards to dehydration. I just said "OK" in response to her further information. She didn't want to hear me quote her own peer reviewed studies on the issue. Trust me, she didn't.

I have a follow up appointment scheduled with the doctor. At this point, I intend to keep it, even though I did not follow their advice. I do want the oppportunity to express with the doctor the impression I got from the PA and find out if this is typical for the practice.

In the meantime, I've talked to our regular doctor, who said "Good" when I told her I declined the Tylenol. She also agreed with me that with a history of the whole family having colds (viral), the red ear (could have been fever induced) and the fluid in the ears (easily caused by the congestion and not necessarily an indication of a bacterial infection), avoiding antibiotics was a good plan too.

I have had her ears checked by the chiro yesterday and I go back with dd again tomorrow to evaluate them. I will also follow up with my regular doctor who is aware of and in agreement with the homeopathic treatment I am doing.

This doctor's office served what I have them for - a go to in the event of an acute issue that needs immediate treatment. I had foreseen that if dd did not have an acceptable oxygen saturation level that she would need a breathing treatment to open her airways and make her more comfortable. That is an acute issue and one I didn't feel comfortable assessing on my own. I will continue to keep these guys in my back pocket for such times when my regular doc is not available and my chiro suggests I need further evaluation.

An update. Dd is feeling fine. Ears are no longer red but there is still some fluid. It's expected that that could take a few weeks to resolve and I have an appt with chiro to recheck in 2 weeks.
I will do the doctor office follow up on Monday and see what they say.
