Meat eater can't stomach meat while pregnant!

I am looking for suggestions on adding protein to my diet in my last few weeks of pregnancy (35 weeks). I am normally a meat eater but cannot even stand the smell of it lately. I have been living off of raw veggies and milk for almost 3 weeks now and am feeling like I need more protein. Besides beans, can anyone give me some ideas? Are there any faux meat products out there that taste good or are tasteless so I won't be able to smell/taste them mixed with salads or wraps?

Thank You!

Wow, I went through that almost 4 years ago, while pg with DS... I have not yet gotten back to the meats that I used to eat, and have no desire to (but I have been able to stomach turkey and some chicken occasionally).

Tofurkey is good
lentil bean soup
peanut butter
yogurt (non-dairy)

Check out some of the nonmeat, meat substitutes available at the supermarket after reviewing the protein content.

Morningstar Farms makes "chicken" nuggets with no meat. I buy them for my daughter but often steal them b/c they are delicious!

Also there's lots of yummy ways to dress up tofu. My fave is in a stir-fry.

If your doing wraps, what about hummus? or falafel? I find chickpeas or navy beans to be tastlesss and a good source of protein to add into soups.

Boca chik'n patties are amazing. They taste very much "like the real thing"- so much so that my staunchly anti-veg brother cleaned out the stash I keep at my parents house recently. They would be awesome sliced up over a salad or in a wrap.

Tempeh would be easy to add to wraps or salads, and isn't too strongly flavored. I'd cut into strips or cubes, toss in soy sauce, and then lightly fry and you can keep it around cold to add into things (you could also flavor it differently if you want to marinate it in anything else too first). Its pretty high in protein in comparison to other veggie meats and other things. There's also a pre-made tempeh fakin' bacon that is really tasty.

Chickpeas would be easy to add too and aren't real strongly flavored. Quinoa is relatively high in protein too, compared to other grains if that would be easier to tolerate.

Ooh I hadn't thought of quinoa! I have a ton of it too!

I can't find boca burgers in canada anymore... They had too meaty a smell anyway, but I love those burgers and miss them!

Will look into Tempeh, sounds familiar but not sure if it is available in my smallish town.

Falafel has the deep fried issue which I can't deal with either these days. I could make my own and bake them, not the same but worth a try. And why I never thought of hummus is beyond me!

Thank You everyone! Will head to the grocery store today and see what I can find.
