TF food bill per week

Ok, money talks sometimes, unfortunately...

So, how much do you spend per week to eat the TFs way?

Um, gosh, I don't know Too much? We spend almost all of our money after rent on food. And food is expensive here. Of course, we have very little cash flow as we are both students, so it's not that much. Maybe 100 euros (130 dollars) a week for both of us? I'd like to say less, but that's pretty much where the money goes so we must just dribble it out over the week. Probably should start budgeting. That's with one organic, pastured or wild meat meal per day. We don't buy much milk, but we do go through a lot of organic eggs, cultured butter, cheese goes fast when we have it, veggies are surprisingly expensive... We also buy bread, which really adds up, I should get back on the ball with bread making since I have no classes at the moment.

It really depends on a lot... COL, location (availability of fresh produce), size of family, and the style of eating.

Right now we're grain-free, so we're heavy on the meats, and we get our CSA year round, so the fruits and veg are relatively cheap. There's just the two of us (the little one isn't eating solids yet), and we're spending anywhere from $100-200/week. Produce alone is $30/week during the winter, pastured meat can range from $50-$100/week depending on what's available and how much I feel like splurging, eggs are $6/dozen, and raw milk is $14/gallon.

Well this week I spent about $80. But I bought a pastured pork tenderloin for $19 of that. Which was a lot, but I was hungry at the farmers market.

I bought a pork tenderloin, fresh saurkraut, sweet potatoes, yukon gold potatoes, cultured butter, truffle butter, navel oranges, orange juice, tangerine juice, eggs, dried apricots and a conventional open barn chicken. I'll pull from the freezer, pantry and cold storage a spaghetti squash, a butternut squash, some green beans, onions, garlic, rice, apples, carrots, chicken stock and beef.

The menu plan for the week so far is:

Monday - Pork with apples and apricots and sweet potatoes
Tuesday - Chicken and potatoes and spaghetti squash
Wednesday - Chicken and rice and green beans
Thursday - Beef Stew
Friday - Usually some kind of soup dinner
Saturday - ?
Sunday - ?

that doesn't seem too bad. I spend about $100 right now and feel like I travel all over the world to get it all for the best price. we're a fam of 4 and they are hungry!!! but we don't eat totally TF style yet. Right now I'm doing it 50% of the time. wondering if going to 100% TF will make it more $ or less
