leg cramps in 2 and a half year old?

When I was a kid (about 7-9) I used to get really bad leg cramps ("growing pains") that would bring me to tears with pain. I don't remember getting them younger. However, DD has complained about her leg hurting. A lot of times she is just trying to be cute (smiling and batting her eyes) so I will kiss it and make it better (which of course I do!) but a couple of times she has started crying out of the blue saying her knee or leg hurts. Could this be leg cramps/growing pains like I had?

My 2.5 year old has had leg cramps too. Kinda freaked me out, but my husband and I both had them as kids too. I haven't talked to a doc, but just thought you'd want to know your LO isn't the only one.

A couple people in the Allergies forum found that their kids' leg cramps went away when they cut out a particular food, I think mostly dairy. I've also read that sometimes supplementing with magnesium will help--I think I should've done that when I was pregnant and had nighttime leg cramps, but I learned of it a bit too late (I was low in magnesium, and it helped with other things later on).

Thanks for the info. She is already dairy-free (lactose intolerant) so we will try the Magnesium supplement.
