Is this cream cheese still good?

So I have an unopened container of whipped cream cheese that says its best before december 25 09. Its just been sitting in the fridge. I'm pregnant and have been craving cream cheese and jalapeno jelly on crackers like crazy and I ate some of the cream cheese It didn't smell bad or look bad or even taste bad. There was no "water" on the top of it or anything, it looked completely normal. PLEASE tell me that it's ok to eat expired cream cheese while pregnant (because I really want some more! LOL!) And btw-how DO you tell if unopened cream cheese is bad?

Unopened, cream cheese will keep for months. Once it's opened, it's another matter entirely - but when it goes bad, you'll know it.

If it's been sealed in the fridge, and it smells fine, I've never had a problem with it. Cream cheese will either smell like rotting milk, or it will grow fuzz when it goes bad. You'd notice either one.
