Legal requirements for UC book

I'm working on (it's taking FOREVER!) the first UC manual right now where I want to compile a list of all of the knowledge and questions that I've read about UC over the years.

I'm worried about the legal implications of this. I expect I'll have to include something in the front of the book that says something like "the advice in this book is not intended to take the place of a doctor's advice...yadda, yadda, yadda" to basically cover all of my bases legally.

Does anyone know if there is a specific passage that I have to legally include or can I write it myself? Is there something in the public domain somewhere that I can copy that will be legally binding? I don't know where to get legal advice for a UC book.

Also, does anyone know where I can obtain medical illustrations to use in the book that are in the public domain? I'm an illustrator, but it's pretty daunting to think of illustrating them all by myself.

Thanks!

You need a lawyer's advice. I don't know about the pictures, seems like you could get permission to use certain illustrations pretty easily, if you would give credit.

Yup you need a lawyer, also do you have any credentials to be writing a book about UC? Because ultimately you will be providing medical advice vs stories and I'm sure some form of credentially proving you know what your talking about is needed. Now if your just writing a book with a bunch of UC stories that's different

laura shanley has no medical credentials that i know of. nor does lynn griesemer or laurie morgan.

at the time of spiritual midwifery, i don't believe that ina may had any sort of credential in midwifery either.

at the front of laura shanley's book under copyright acknowledgments is a pretty encompassing disclaimer, and i know i have other pregnancy books that say "this is not medical advice, always consult your hcp blah blah blah"
