wanted: pink princess sword

Anyone know where I can get a pink princess sword?

5yo DS and 3 yo DD sleep together, and DD says she is scared of the dragons. DS has a rubber sword, so he says it is OK, he will kill the dragon and protect her because he is the king and she is the princess. DD was OK with this. But I thought it was so passive, so I suggested I get her a sword too, so she could slay the dragons herself. She agreed with this, except the sword has to be pink (or purple) and princess themed (glitter or kitty cat themed would also be ok). So powerful girly-girl thing I guess.

Now she wants her own sword, as I suggested, but I can't find a girly sword. (Lesson learned: think before you speak!) There are few swords here, and all are grey or brown and pirate or sci-fi themed. Then I thought I could have DH carve one in wood, and I could paint it pink, but that is a dumb idea because if she actually swung a wooden sword it could hurt. So I need a softer material like rubber or foam. Should I buy a "boy" sword and then paint it "girly"? What paints would work on rubber or foam? Other ideas?

do you knit? there is a pattern for a knit one on etsy that looks pretty cool.

ROFLOL that totally rocks! It says to me, "yes I'll be a girly-girl princess but I can still kick your butt if I have to!". Love it!

Sorry, anyway all I can suggest is to find a way to make one. My first suggestion would be to find a pink swimming noodle and cut it to shape, maybe more like a rapier.

sooo cute to see sibling bonding.

I thought I had seen this! Legoland actually sells a princess sword. And you can buy it over the phone if you don't live in San DIego. Its not even that expensive. We have several legoland things and they have held up reasonably well. They are also a great source for knight costumes if you don't want to make your own.

OMG a pink pirate cutlass! That's about the cutest and most hysterical thing I think I've seen in a while! (If dd didn't already have about a half dozen various swords....pink IS her fave color....must resist!)

I was going to tell you about Legoland too. I saw them when were there in December.

Failing that, I'd spray paint a silver one. That's what I did when dd asked for a pink fire truck.

My daughter has a purple one that we got in China town. It's like one of these. It's cheap plastic but the girl needed a weapon.

Another vote for the plastic spray paint... made by Krylon and at my local hardware store.

I made a sword for my DD out if a length of the norrowest PVC and the foam pipe insulation. Leave the handle bare and use a bit of the foam to make a hilt. Cover all in duct tape. They make pink duct tape. I got some at Target.

Thanks everyone! I was about to get some foam and spray paint, and then, on the way out of the grocery store I found a red and gold sword. DD was with me and said "yea, a princess sword!!" so I bought it. Totally plastic and ugly, but in the sale rack, and DD has been playing with it since we got home! And yes, she will slay dragons in bed!

i'D buy a Nerf sword and paint it and decorate it to be a princess sword.
