So Happy We'll Be Huge in August - Page 2

I feel totally insane

not only am I due at the end of summer

but at the beginning of summer... I am moving further south! (from northern illinois to the coast of north carolina)

at 30 weeks pregnant...

though i do agree on keeping the post-pregnancy heat to a minimum... DD was born in late june... and then I spent an entire AC-free summer breastfeeding her and wearing as little clothing as I could get away with.

I have had a March and May baby so far and swore off being in the 3rd trimester in the summer.. and now, i will be.

so, thanks for this. this is helpful. i am going to be swollen and look like a giant balloon, but it will be nice to not have to wear all those clothes that you have to wear in the winter.. with my other kids i just hated getting dressed (it was so much work putting on layers) and not having a coat that fit over my belly .. plus, i have a bunch of summer maternity clothes that i bought for the pregnancy i miscarried and i've kept them all this time and i finally get to wear them! i'll still need some new shorts, but thats ok.. i need to have something to shop for!

blargh oh YEAH... i hated that lol... i had just as much sweat coming out from under my huge engorged breasts as I had breastmilk coming out....

my shower definitely was my best friend most of that summer.

Yay for cute summer maternity clothes and swimming! That will help me get through it!!

One thing I'm really looking forward to with having an end of the summer baby is fall baby wearing. It's completely ridiculous, but I was trying to plan to have my baby at the beginning of the fall so that I could use my favorite fleece pouch as much as possible! Too hot to wear it in the summer and wanted to be able to snuggle my newborn in it, along with the bazillion other baby carriers I have.

I'm also looking forward to wearing swimsuits while pregnant. I feel much more comfortable showing off my pregnant body than my not pregnant body.

at least THEN there is an excuse for the tummy, right? LOL

Oooo! I got one!

A whole year to get ready for your first postpartum bathing suit season! That's gotta count for something! ^^

And for those of you working on #2 or more, your older ones might be headed to school so you won't have to worry about them during your recovery time as much!

Also DDC crashing, but I loved being hugely pregnant during the summer. Being able to walk down the beach without having to suck in my stomach was great. And then having the sweater season to cover up my flabby belly while I deal with the "nine months to lose it" part of the deal.

Plus, I think being pregnant is a fantastic excuse to treat yourself to a pedicure.

My best friend just bought a new house with a salt water pool and has offered to have us over every day (I told her it was a dangerous offer because I am surely taking her up on it).
Fresh fruit smoothies....mmmmm!

I like having September and October babies. I live in Alaska where we don't get hot summers though. I love snuggling in when the cold weather with a new baby. It would be hard to have a newborn in the hottest part of the summer since they can't wear sunscreen. In September we have nice crisp weather perfect for walks on the trail behind my condo. The next summer the baby is older and it is easier to do summer stuff than with a newborn.

Here's one: although September is technically the beginning of fall, (although where I am, it's the hottest month of the summer), you can GET OUT OF THE HOUSE with your baby unlike when I had DD in December with snow on the ground. I nearly lost my mind being house bound so much. Couldn't go for walks because of the ice and the effort of dressing, getting baby ready, and leaving was such a to-do. This time, I'll mostly be figuring out just how nekkid I can get away with being while babywearing and going everywhere!

sorta crashing sorta optimistically lurking...

my DD was due Sept. 15th but came early. By mid-August I was waddling everywhere and swearing up and down I would NEVER be that pregnant over the summer again. I live on the west coast of Fl so it was SWELTERING. I also gained 60 pounds, so that might have something to do with it...

here's what everyone (any hopefully myself, too) has to look forward to. I was 34 weeks here:

Wow, Courtney, you SOO don't look like you had gained 60 lbs - you look great! Also,, where in FL exactly? I grew up in between Ocoee and Apopka (near Orlando) and have family over in St. Pete!

My husband does air conditioning for a living. He better not let me go one minute this summer without a/c. I'm planning to spend the days inside. Here we get out and do outside stuff in spring and fall. Summer is like a sauna. HUMID!

I've lived in St. Pete for about 5 years now, but I grew up in Ocala! And thanks, but I think it was all in my breasts and my hips. The only places I got stretch marks were my hips and thighs and I went from a D cup to a G! Oh the things we do for our children!! lol

Thank you all so much for these positives! I was dreading being huge & extra temperature sensitive in July/August. But, you've reminded me that, yes, there are lots of good things...fresh fruits and veggies, swimming, easy/comfy clothes, flip flops. yay!
