Suggestions for encouraging nap without nursing down?

My DD is a sleep fighter. For every nap, unless its in the car or stroller, I nurse her to sleep. At bed time she'll nurse for 10 minutes and then roll over and go to sleep. I'd like the same sort of deal at nap time, but I can't seem to get her to go along with it. She cries and cries if I take away the boob before she's asleep. I stood my ground and today it took her 40 minutes of crying in arms to get to sleep again and she woke up after only 45 minutes to cry again for more nursing (which I did as I told her I'd nurse her after she woke up). Any ideas?

Have you tried wearing her in a sling or a wrap and walking around (outside or inside) until she's asleep? Babywearing always knocks my DD out eventually. Sometimes I can't take her off without waking her up, but at least I can get stuff done while she's sleeping on my back. My DD is a year younger than yours though, so who knows if this will work in a year.

I do love to wear her and she'll get sleepy on my back, but not really asleep. Plus this would take probably as long as nursing her down with a lot more effort on my part But it's an idea if I get really sick of laying down.

My 15 month old son is the same way. He wants to nurse the whole time while he naps. It makes it hard to get some me time. I have tried letting him cry in my arms but always give in after a few minutes.

I hope you figure something out and then I can try it too!
