Just thought I'd update from my insurance ? post. This is cross-posted from my DDC, btw.

Well, I made my first midwife appointment. I am kind of obsessed with wanting to hear the heartbeat lately; maybe it's coz my belly flattened out a bit or my nausea is pretty much gone, but I just want to hear that whoosh whoosh. For insurance reasons, I just called my mw from dd's birth 6y ago, who is a CNM, delivers in the hospital (is able to take medicaid whereas the hb mws can't here).

She is pretty cool and very confident about birth, so I think I'm just going to be very upfront with her about wanting to have the baby at home and feel out the waters for if she could be backup for UC, like stitch me up afterwards if necessary in her office and handle the paperwork and such. I had dd so fast and a relatively easy birth, so I think that the mw will be an ally for me being able to do this on my own. I hope!

The only thing I'm concerned about with this mw is that she's delivered so many babies that she's kind of blase about it and may be more medical or kind of not honor how important it is for me to have this own in my own time and space. So we'll see how it goes. The appointment is for 1/20, and I'll update afterward.
