I live in a small studio apartment attached to the garage at my friend's house. Friend owns the house. It has ugly gray indoor/outdoor carpet. Glued down to concrete.
When my friend moved into the house (inherited it when her mom died), first thing she did was rip out the carpet.
My apartment has what I believe is the same carpet it had before it was an apartment and was the "back room" that we grew up playing in (We've been friend's since 5).
I asked if I could take the carpet out and paint the floor, and her answer was an enthusiastic YES! So how do I get it out? It's glued down. Directly to the concrete. There are no corners where it lifts a little that I could get ahold of it.
Can I use something fairly natural to dissolve the glue? Vinegar? Something with minimal fumes?

Plain water will loosen the glue, the hotter, the better.
