Doesn't your hair smell like vinegar?

If you just wash your hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar- doesn't it smell all day? Do you follow up with a conventional, fragrence-filled conditioner to cover it up? I am ready to try but my skin is getting iritated by 'fragrence' so I would like to use more natural stuff.

I currently use Burts bees (but looking for other options) shampoo with acv rinse (and have tried bs/acv) and nope, I don't smell like vinegar....as long as I thoroughly rinse!! Though, I actually don't mind the smell of acv

Well, I'm not ready for baking soda quite yet, so I use regular shampoo/conditioner and then use acv to rinse to help with the static. It works really well. It smells horrible when I first put it on, but the smell goes away pretty fast.

Once it evaporates/dries the smell goes away (I think, LOL -- at least no one has complained to me about it!).

Yep once your hair dries there is little smell. I think it just smells like clean fresh hair. It def. does not leave a strong vinegar smell.

My hair is very thick and course, therefore, it doesn't dry very quickly. I don't mind the smell of the vinegar, but I started wondering if it would bother others. I found the following site explaining which herbs and oils you can include to help counteract the smell and also give added benefits.

I use ACV as a shampoo, I have never had issues with a smell, i just rinse it really well after wards.

Yes it does. I have thick hair and you could smell it no matter how much I rinsed, and it lasted at least a day. My husband hates the smell of vinegar, so I had to quite.

Unless it's JUST after I step out of the shower AND one of my kids gave me a hug, I've never had anyone comment on the smell.  I don't think it smells of vinegar at all.

My hair held the vinegar smell too. Everyone could smell it. And it was Bragg's ACV too.  It took days to get it out.

Are you all rinsing with straight vinegar? You only need a little mixed with water. I probably use one part vinegar to 6 parts water. That's a guess, but it's not much.  Maybe that accounts for the smell?

i use half and half because i have a dry scalp and as long as i rinse good no smell.

ETA- I do use conditioner after but its smell free.

I use it and have thick long hair.  It did not leave a smell in my hair.  I dilute it a bit with water.  I use Bragg's brand and put about five drops of TTO in as well.  I now use honey instead of the ACV.

I'm definitely going to have to try this! I don't mind the smell at all but my hubby has started to complain. I don't want to give up on "no pooing" because my hair is doing so well and my dandruff and itchy scalp are finally gone! Also, has anyone tried the lemon juice instead of ACV? Do you use the store bought stuff or does it have to be fresh squeezed? Does it work as well??
