ok, i know we're not supposed to use the dreaded cio here and i REALLY don't want to, but somethings gotta give soon. i have a 4 1/2yo, 2 1/2yo and 7 mos old. The 7 mos old will occasionally sleep for a 3 hour stretch - sometimes a 2 hr stretch, but its usually a 45min-1hour stretch at a time. He had issues when he was little (and he's still bitty at just under 14 lbs)... And its a constant battle to get him to sleep... nurse, rock, bounce - hold your breath and pray he stays asleep... he's in a hammock so i try to bounce him in that instead of pickin him up... his brothers like to make noise at the worst moments too.

i'm not looking for nighttime ideas as much as i am daytime... the 2 1/2 yo is in constant mischief - the 2 of em fight ALL THE TIME and im no help because the baby is always almost asleep, etc. (he wont sleep in a carrier unless im constantly rocking so its pretty useless unless im trying to make lunch. Thing is, he's sooo much happier when he's had some sleep AND the boys do so much better when i can give them some attn. I know its not fair to the older ones... usually the only happy time we have is after the boys midday nap (4 1/2 yo is in room for quiet time) but that only lasts til baby gets tired again...

Sooo... any ideas? I won't let him cry alone for any extended period, but the gentle ways are just not working... (i have the no cry sleep soln - its crap so far). is there a middle of the road idea out there? (i was sooo anti cry at all for the other 2 that im cringing as i type this, but my other 2 are becoming monsters... and i know its my fault for letting so much slide... but ive literally got my hands full cause the baby wont sleep and just cries... he's great til he gets tired...)
