Things you do to make you happy as SAHM - Page 3

Jogging stroller or baby backpack for getting out (also lifting weights, eating healthy help me feel happy/energetic. When I cook I put the baby in a backpack) I turn on music to do my free weight routine at home and the kids "workout" too. It is really fun and we dance and laugh. I would probably use a baby swing if I had a baby right now for that activity.

Grooming--blow dry my hair, make up and get dressed

Have friends over for lunch, meet friends at the park, call a friend on the phone, go visit my mom

Library story time (meet friends there too)

Alone time with the Lord (Bible, journal, pray)

Napping! (My kids take a quiet time everyday)

Go for a drive (I do this when the kids are sick and/or the weather is bad...when I get really desperate to have a change of scenery)

Play guitar and let the kids try too.

I can do these thigs during the day with the kids present even though it can be a challenge, as you know! I went through a time where I thought I could only do chores as a SAHM--I am doing much better now that I treat myself like a human and have fun with my kids too

I like nursing DD to sleep in bed and reading a book at the same time. Often she nurses and naps on my knee at the computer (ie now!), but then I always feel vaguely guilty if I'm surfing the net instead of writing articles for part-time income. If I'm in bed with nothing but a book there's nothing more "worthwhile" to do in arms' reach, so I read and enjoy it!

I like cooking, but I don't find the day-to-day stuff really recharges me. It's satisfying, but it feels like work. But trying out a new recipe from some swanky food blog feels like a creative endeavor and makes me happy! Or experimenting with Indian food, sushi, cooking with wine or some other area of cooking I've never really explored. I learned to make pasta from scratch recently, and while it's WAY too labour-intensive for every day, at least I won't go to my grave thinking "Hmm, I always meant to try that".

I'm also learning to sew (approaching competence now), knit (barely beginning) and drive (3 lessons so far!). Skill-collecting makes me happy.

Things that make me happy as a SAHM:
-long lazy afternoons in the park or pool
-having another SAHM over for coffee and conversation while the kids play
-the flexability of doing things on my schedule
-being able to homeschool my kids
-baking
-arts and crafts
-snuggling on the couch and reading with my children
-spending all morning at the library discovering it treasures
-going to all the kid friendly attractions during the week when they are not super crowded with people.
