Chickpea miso???

Thread Starter
I am reading the Food Allergy Survival Guide and several of the recipes ask for chickpea miso. I have no idea what that is and the book doesn't give any explanation. I tried googling it, but that didn't help much either.

Does anyone know what it is and where I can buy it? Or do you know what I can use instead?

South River Miso sells chickpea miso -- I've never used it, though. It's likely being suggested because miso is typically made from soy, and soy is a common allergen. You'd likely be able to substitute regular miso in the recipe.

Ask over in the Allergies subforum of Health & Healing. Some of those people have tried it, I believe.

The chickpea miso and the chickpea tamari from South River Miso are gooooood. I just got them this week and made teriyaki for the first time in a long time... it was so yummy.

I just bought some at Whole Foods. Haven't tried it yet though!
