whooping cough?

Hi everyone...
My son started out with a very red throat 2 nights ago.. all of a sudden his voice started getting raspy... I attributed this to the new microphone and amp.. performing for a few hours with my daughter
Anyhow, he started getting a cough, which has now gotten very chesty.. rosy cheeks, although no fever I could feel..(honestly, hadn't checked with a thermometer as he has been acting completely normal.. playing, running)...
Today he is a bit more worn down.. the runny nose started...
The cough is really barky now, although not often (more at night seems, tonight) .. and he just woke me up with the infamous whoop, as he inhaled after a coughing fit...
The fit wasn't that bad.. and he is back to a sound sleep now.. with humidifier in the room...
I am more concerned than I would normally be because we have new baby (almost 4 mos.. but little...) and little sis just turned 3 yrs...
Vitamins every day... generally healthy eater.. but has been around quite a bit of sick kids (we've realized in retrospect-been exposed to strep and croup--but I'm scared that may have been mis-diagnosed?? babysitter sounded really chesty/barking cough when she was leaving too...ay-yi-yi)...
Any advice? I'm thinking I'll bring him to the DO tomorrow... would you?
(As my siggy says.. we are no vax, although he was the only one of my kiddos to be partially vax'd before research changed our perspective.......more concern there too...but our Dr. is on board with us)... thanks in advance for soothing my worries

I'd go to the doc. They can take a sample of mucous and see if it is in fact whooping cough. Sounds a bit more like croup to me, though, from what you describe. Hope he feels better soon.
