Does anyone know

of forward facing front carrier that can support a 21 lb. 8 month old? From what I've read, the Bjorn is just for babies up to 22lbs. Is that right? We have an Ergo, but she really enjoys facing forward. We also have a Moby, but after an hour or so, she's down by our knees. lol

Thanks in advance!

I'm one who always recommends finding a way for baby to have a view with a hip carry or back carry. I believe the ergo is supposed to work as a hip and back carrier, but I've never had one.

I think your baby has outgrown the Moby, but a woven wrap could be used for a great outward facing carry on a hip or your back.

Sorry I don't have the answer to your actual question, but that's my advice!

The reason you can't find carriers that forward face for heavier babes is that it gets really difficult for the wearer to support that much weight in that position. Having the babe face you is much more ergonomic for both of you. I'll echo the pp and suggest trying out hip and back carries with your Ergo.

Search youtube for instructions on different ways to get the babe on your back for the back carry. My favorite is the superman toss (not nearly as scary as it sounds) there's also the hip scoot.

ETA some videos for you
hip scoot another hip scoot, slightly different w/ how to get down.

I couldn't find a good video of superman tossing w/ an ergo. This is a MT video, but she superman tosses.

ETAx2 This one is even better. 5 different ways to get baby on your back and good sound.

Check out the Pikkolo. It's a SSC like the Ergo, but you can cinch the bottom of the body to wear your little one facing out. You can also wear her in the other usual positions like other SSC's. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone!! The hip carrier is an awesome idea! I'll have to see if our Ergo is compatible. I also just need to get some courage and try putting her on my back.

Thanks again!

I also would have said woven wrap since it won't sag like the Moby. I also hear BECO is a little easier than the Ergo for learning a back carry since the baby is already secured in the carrier before you put them on...
