Tonsillitis and chest infection- contagious?

A friend is supposed to come over on Friday but now says one of her 2 yr old twins has tonsillitis and a chest infection. She says if she is still sick, she can leave her with her grandma and bring the other twin over to our house.

I'm 8 months pregnant and have my own 2 year old and we do not want to get sick! I can't believe she is suggesting this plan, couldn't she and the other twin be carrying it? Or is it totally not contagious?

I think there's different causes for tonsillitis...and probably a lot of them are infectious. I personally would skip the playdate, more out of concern for you being 8 months pregnant. You don't need a respiratory infection at this point, and people can be infectious before having symptoms.

infection = contagious. i would go ahead and cancel. i give you permission to make up a lame excuse if you want!

I'd cancel. I don't know about the tonsillitis, I think it can be caused by different things, but the chest infection I'm guessing is contagious. I wouldn't want to take the chance either!
