Tylenol helps DD sleep better?

Back story... Sunday night, DD (6 months) was up screaming/crying every 45-60 minutes all night long. DH and I were at the end up our ropes mentally come morning and we were soooo exhausted. Normally, she will wake up 2-3 times a night to eat and go back to sleep. So this really wasn't normal.

So, last night I gave her some Hyland's teething tablets an hour before bed, and then a dose of Tylenol right before she went to sleep. She slept so much better. She woke up her traditional 2 times, and even slept later than normal by an hour.

She's been "teething" since four months, but no teeth yet. You can feel one right below the surface on her upper gums. Do you think she was screaming Sunday night and the frequent wakings were due to tooth pain? Or could there be something else that I'm completely missing? (I don't know if it matters, but last Thursday she had some vaccinations, and she had no ear infection.)

My guess is some aches/pains from the vax but it could also be teething.

Teething does take a blasted long time though....

I vote teething pain. We use the Humphrey's strips before bed, and in the midst of actual cutting teeth, we do use Motrin before bed. She sleeps soooo much better.

Yeah... DS has been "teething" forever too and the teeth start to poke out and then go away.

We had a bad run of sleep after the last set of vax where he was so upset at night for roughly 4-5 nights. Motrin worked the best for him and I think it was the vax and not teething in our case. I second the Humphrey's strips for ease's sake at night although the teething tablets have seemed to help at times too.

I hope your LO pops out a tooth and starts sleeping again!

I haven't tried the Humphrey's strips. Is that something they'd smell at Whole Foods (thats the only place I can find the Hyland's teething tablets locally)

I would say probably teething. Hyland's worked great for us. I found them at CVS. Hope the tooth comes soon. It take so long the first few. Dd2 i teething now for the last month. It took about 1.5-2 months for dd1 to cut the first 2 teeth.

Surprisingly we discovered Humphrey's strips at Walgreens. They have the same ingredients as Hylands but are way easier to administer, especially at night.

it's those blasted teeth!

My son at 8 months now has 8 teeth and the ones on top were the worst! He slept horrible, had a fever of 102.2 and was just miserable for a day or two right before they broke through. We give him the teething tablets and tylonal to help get him through and help his fever and pain go away, then he is able to sleep better (and so are we). I don't usually don't opt for the tylonal, usually the tablets work just fine but when those top teeth are bugging him (and now it's his molers!) tylonal seems to help out. I also nurse a lot more and give him a bottle of water or rice milk to help flush out his system as tylonal goes through the liver and kidneys : ) Hope that helps and your little one feels better!
