You still have some time, so if they don't have any available now, they may get some used ones in.
I got a used kit and was told there would be a long waiting list, but they happen to be stocked when I called up.
I'll be done with mine in March, if you still haven't gotten one from them yet.

I have a question. I can't afford the Hypnobabies set right now, period, it's just not an option. I checked out the book from the library, but I think I can also borrow it from my midwives when I have to return the library copy. I also d0wnloaded (ahem...) the 6 cd audio portion online. Am I missing much by only using these two things to 'study' from? What else is in the kit?

I'm due in early Feb and I've been doing hypnobabies since about 20 weeks. I did each section for 2 weeks rather than one and after that I've been doing a cross between the maintainance part and just listening to the ones I like best.

I didn't really have a program for my first child's birth, I just got through it. With the second we did Bradley, which was nice enough and really helpful for dh. With the third I read a lot of Ina Mae Gaskins' stuff and that really helped until the last couple of hours. I'm hoping to do better this time.

I absolutely hear you about not being able to stay awake through them, but I also wake up when the cd ends so I'm thinking it's hypnotic amnesia. I'm really bad about practicing the fingerdrops, but I listen to the cd's every night so hopefully it evens out. A side benefit has been that nine times out of ten the cd's knock out my kids as well as me, which has made bedtime a lot easier. Especially now when I'm so huge.

The cd's and the book are the major part of the kit. Otherwise there's a birth partner's guide (which is in the book, too) and some signs you can tack up in the hospital to explain things to the nurses. I would think you'd do just fine with only the book and the cd's.

Thanks so much for your response, but I just had an "OH CRAP, DUH!" moment. I thought the Hypnobirthing Mongan method book was the one that went with Hypnobabies. That's the book that I have. I suppose if I mix the wrong book up with the cd's, that's not going to go over so well. Now I'm really not sure what to do.

My Hypnobabies kit arrived yesterday, yay! I read the first section last night while watching the basketball game on TV with DH. I haven't started listening to the CDs yet, but I think I'm going to bring the affirmations CD to work and rip it to my computer's hard drive. That way I can listen to it while I'm doing my work.

Is it a specific CD that you listen to when this happens? I'd like to try it with my 2 yr. old! Sometimes she has a very hard time falling asleep and she has night terrors. It would sure be nice if the CDs helped her too!

I think I heard that Hypnobirthing is not set up to allow you to move around freely during labor...and that is the major difference between the two methods? Someone else might know better than me. Anyway, I was going to say that I am not finding the Hypnobabies workbook to be that informative or essential so far. I wonder if you could poke around and find someone to borrow it from to see if you can just copy parts of it that you want. The only part of it I've been using so far is the instructions for what to listen to/practice each week. You might be able to find that info online...?

Jenica: I actually did end up lying down in an empty classroom yesterday and listening to one of the scripts for 30 minutes, and it helped some. I don't know why I have been getting so much dizziness and lightheadedness during this pregnancy. My glucose test, iron levels and blood pressure have all been fine. My dr seems pretty unconcerned when I mention it to her, I suppose a lot of people have this symptom, I just didn't really have it with my first.

123: I too would like to know which CDs are putting your kids to sleep! I might need to try that with my 3 yr old. We've been having some long, drawn out bedtimes lately and it gets really frustrating.

I bet the deepening script would put anyone to sleep I actually think it might be the music in the background that would be putting toddlers to sleep. I doubt kids would be focusing much on the words. I think the music hypnobabies uses is made up of Alpha Waves. Most relaxation hypnosis use music with alpha waves which get your brain to start producing alpha waves. When your brain is making alpha waves you are in a state of deep relaxation. It's not supposed to make you sleepy but if you are already tired getting really relaxed is going to help you fall asleep. So you all might try buying some alpha wave music for your kids if they have trouble falling asleep. Maybe playing it while you read them a bedtime story and by the time your done, they might be down for the night Hmm... now I'm thinking I might put that on my baby registry, might work for a crying baby...

I'm planning my second HypnoBabies Birth!

My first son was a NCB at a FSBC. It was painful.

My second son was born at home. Pain free!

I'm hoping and praying for an even more beautiful birth this time. I really like the HypnoBabies course.

The first cd with the Special Place and the Comfortable Childbirth tracks works the best, but they all calm them down. I think that by now it's become such a part of the bedtime routine that the kids are conditioned to relax when I turn the mp3 player on. I'm seriously considering continuing to play hypnobabies after the baby is born, just for the big kids. Then maybe I can slowly replace it with music over time.

The Deepening track is actually the one I've had the most issues with involving the kids. In the others there's a few minutes before you turn all the way to off, but with the Deepening you're supposed to go off right away and so I have to be really sure that they're settled before I start it. And pop the switch to center if they're not.

I love Hypnobabies!

I had a wonderful birth 18 months ago at a birth center using Hypnobabies.

What you all are describing IS hypnotic amnesia. I listened to my CDs every night before going to sleep, and it worked great when I was in labor.

You can buy used copies directly from Hypnobabies, and they will buy back current editions of the program once you're finished with it. They do caution against buying from places like eBay because there have been a number of people selling "complete" copies which are missing scripts/CDs, and then mamas don't get the full program and wind up very disappointed and not fully equipped during labor.

Good luck to all of you! I think you'll love the program. It kept me positive and relaxed. Be sure to join the Yahoo! group if you haven't already. I have learned so much from that--I'm still on it for all the great info.
