Spider Veins

I am not sure where to post this. I recently discovered a small patch of spider veins on the outter part of my left calf. I thought it was a bruis but it hasn't gone away, it has gotten a little lighter. I finally looked at it closely with a mirror and am pretty sure they are spider veins. The little bit of research I did says it is common in pregnant women, and with weight gain, and usually goes away about 6 weeks after birth. This is my third pregnancy and I have never had them before. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? I read biflavoniods help, like dark berries and the white part of citrus fruits. Any one else dealing with this. I am feeling really sad about it because they are not pretty to look at, even though it is a small patch and it is pretty light. I am only 25 and it gets me down to think that I will have this forever, being that it is on my calf it will be hard to cover up in warm weather. Maybe I am being vein but it's how I feel.

I also recently discovered a puffy vein on my inner thigh where my leg meet my body. It comes and goes depending on if I have been sitting. I have just about come to terms with my streech marks and givin up the idea that I will be wearing shorts anytime soon because of them and the fact that I need to build some muscle in my thighs. Sometimes a vein in the back of my thigh puffs up too, it comes from the really puffy one higher up.

Anyway though I would ask.

Quickie post as I'm running out to the dentist...

I never had a spider or varicose vein til my last pregnancy- #5. I wasn't expecting them since I'd never had them, and was *horrified* by the idea of them staying forever! For me, it all started with a few spider veins, then I got huge patches of spider veins that looked like bruises. Soon after I started finding varicose veins, from my feet to my butt cheeks! Awful! They kept getting worse til I delivered. And I too felt so vain stressing over it so much. I tried to prepare myself to have ugly legs forever, but, here I am 3 mos post partum & they are all completely gone. ~Whew~

So my point is, try hard not to stress super badly as your legs very well may look perfectly lovely & normal after you give birth.

Ok thanks that's reassuring! Did you do anything to them while pregnant or after your baby's birth to try and keep them from getting worse or get rid or them or keep them from coming back? I called my midwife and she said she has some tincatures that work really well at keeping them from getting worse. At least it is winter here and my legs are covered all the time, if it were summer I would have no choice but to shom them off as it gets way hot here. Hopefully I will have the same luck as you.

Thanks again!

You can always get a bit of sclerotherapy done. I had veins that didn't go away and I paid $150 a few years back to have a saline solution injected into them that caused them to disappear. It's not too expensive and not terribly painful. Lots of dermatologists do it.
