"What a difference a week makes"

DH just said this, and it really hit home. Back story: DH, DS and I were vacationing in the Lower 48. DH had to come back a week before us for work.

DS's skills are just EXPLODING. A week ago, he knew all the color words, but would only get them correct about 50% of the time. Some time in the last week, he figured the whole thing out and is now 98% correct (pink and purple still trip him up sometimes ). He had the ability to speak in two- and three-word sentences, but generally didn't (though he somehow mastered use of both the plural and possessive -s suffix before speaking in sentences ). Today he told my husband, "Two black ones!" about one of his toy cars (it has a black sunroof and windshield). DH, having been away from him for a week, pointed out just how marked the difference is.

A week.

Toddlerhood blows my mind.

Wow! Isn't so amazingly cool to watch them figure stuff like that out?

My kids have done that a lot too...seem to be at the same level for a long time, then suddenly something just "clicks" and they have a new skill! I am looking forward to getting to see all that again with my new babe due soon!
