I like Calvin. Aruthur reminds me of the kids TV show.

Love the nn Cal. We considered Callahan (big fans of Tommy Boy) for our most recent addition but she's a girl

Well, one is the name of one of my favorite children's book characters. The other is character in a cartoon.

I vote for both!

As for the meaning of Calvin, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Most people don't ask or go around talking about the meaning of their names (other than the first few months maybe, when people are curious how you chose a certain name). I mean, when you meet someone new and they tell you their name, you don't ask "what does that mean?". IMO, meanings don't have much meaning (My DD's name means "bitter" or "sea of bitterness", but who cares?).

PS I also LOVE Gilbert!

I voted for Arthur. I know a little Arthur who's called Archie, that might work instead of Artie?

DH and I both like Calvin and it was short-listed for our last two kids. But you hit the nail on the head---it's becoming hipster. It's the next Henry and Simon--though I guess Henry and Simon might be yupster...anyway, it's becoming trendy and definitely categorible.

I really like Calvin and don't have any strong feelings either way about Arthur
