Hello. I have a stainless steel double boiler pot. Stupidly, I have been using the steel boiler insert as a regular put and putting it directly on heat to cook food. I finally realized my error last night. The put was discolored on the inside with rainbow markings from high heat, I think. I have since chucked the pot, but want to know if there is any way that this was bad for me and my kids?
