Anyone have experience on beta blockers in late pregnancy?

My MW prescribed Lobetalol for me due to rising bp (diastolic has been creeping up steadily over the past three weeks, first into the 80's and then into the 90's despite tons of dietary stuff I've been doing). I started it two days ago - I'm just wondering how effective it's going to be at this point. My due date is Friday, so we could start doing natural induction stuff, really anytime now (I have acupuncture tomorrow).

Anyone have experience with this - been able to keep your bp at bay with a beta blocker? If so, how long did it take before it became effective? Subjectively I feel a little more mellow after two days on it, but my bp is holding steady in the mid 90's. I've been reading that it takes about a week to lower your bp - which is fine, but hopefully I will have had the baby by then! I'm planning a home birth....I guess this late in the game the only thing that could send me to the hospital is if bp continues to go up and natural induction doesn't work. Hopefully that won't happen. Anyway, sorry so long. Any feedback is appreciated!!
