Banning is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Not just you! I mostly find it exhilarating.
I have every day's schedule setup for the whole semester, and that helps me keep on track. But I also wanted to incorporate daily nature walks, music, Spanish, community classes, more arts/crafts... Not enough time! (or not organized enough yet?)

i read, i find stuff, i research -- there is sooooo much we want to fit in ... and even when the boys are older i don't see it all ever happneing.
then you add in NOT pushing them, and accepting acidemics may not be a strong point here till 7 or 8 ... fine motor control issues, male, SN and so on --- and i really feel paniced.
i worry about fitting in the "basics" not to mention things like music theroy DH wants them to do since they will be homeschooled

there seems to always be more great ideas or things i think of they should learn.

Now that he started learning about things that interest him on his own, he wants to know so many things.
And I want him to know so many things. Last fall, I was feeling stressed about it. I'll never have enough time to teach him everything I want him to know.
Then I decided I had to prioritize--what do I want him to know most.
Then teach him how to learn on his own so he can continue to be educated his whole life.
My parents taught us to love learning about things and I think that's a wonderful gift. I hope I can pass that on.

Yes. Seems like we barely have enough time for the three Rs. I kind of wished we had repeated a year this year just to give us more time for getting solid on the Rs then next year maybe it'd be easier to get into the "extras". It's all good, though.
I do sometimes worry that I'm missing a window or something, especially with Science stuff. She asks these questions off the cuff or has interests, and I don't quite know how to jump on it right away. So I hope that if it's a genuine interest it will keep coming up and give me enough time to catch up with her on it.

Me too!
I work part-time and with the 4 kids I feel like I need a clone of myself. My kids enjoy fun activities like field trips, art, music, cheer, P.E, and scouts. I made our schedule very busy this year on purpose and now I feel rushed trying to plug our lessons into the day. I am trying to not analyze it too much.
My dh makes fun of me when I try to make simple errands into lessons; gas-MPG, estimation, ethical discussions, ect. He says "they don't hear you or get it" and I keep talking and explaining. I tell him they will get a taste and they can build on it later.

Yes.
Dh and I decided to look at everything we want to teach the boys by the time they go to college and broke the list into two parts: subjects we want to achieve depth (hence, they get priority) and subjects that fall under the heading breadth. It has helped, but our second list is getting bigger.
For now, Latin, English (spelling, writing, grammar, reading), and math are our priority subjects and are done daily. Spanish and French, in time, will also be added to that list. Then, the others get spread out throughout the week like weekly electives (history, science, art, for now). But I haven't figured out where to fit things like computer literacy (keyboarding being key), video editing, music, or anything else!

The last post got me all overwhelmed again! I am learning Latin myself so I feel more comfortable teaching it. We also want to teach Spanish and Chinese. My daughter is typing on the keyboard, and I want to get keyboarding in pretty soon before she ends up like her dad and keeps pecking single keys. And piano, and this and that...
