When did you move your SN child to his/her own room?

Long story short, our sleeping arrangements are not really working for our family. We have considered moving DS into his own room, and we have a room ready for him, but I really don't see it working out right now. He will be 3 at the end of March. We are thinking SPD. He is really scared of the dark, and also needs to hold someone's hair to go to sleep. He wakes 3-4x/night usually.

When did you move your SN kid?

We moved out son out of his room when he was little. His room is very close to ours and we can see all of his monitors and hear them all, but he also got his space. He liked the dark and quiet and seemed to think cosleeping was torture.

My mother kids didn't get moved out until they were ready, which for most of them was threeish.

We worked on both waiting for them to be ready and following their cues.

It sounds like you need to find your son a different comfort before he is going to be ready to sleep on his own.

Good luck!!

He moved, sort of, on his own after he was three...but it was his idea and he had a cool bed to go to. We still layed down w/him...and still do...BUT he has no bad fear of the dark and doesn't really like "lovey's" of any sort...and he did still nurse...LOL Going at his pace and letting him come back to our bed seems to help a lot. Have you tried putting another mattress on the floor of your bedroom and helping him learn how to sleep there first? We had a toddler bed in our room for awhile.

GL!
