I have another friend who does well too. but she just excells socially. people love her and clamor to her. she is lovely and delightful and her voice is mezmorizing. but she also works with several other direct marketing companies and combines them all into one bug shopping experiance for her customers. She travels with her family for stuff and has customer bases in several states. but at the end of the day I can shop on her online store easily with free shipping.
So if you are not a knock on doors type I think the key is getting hooked up with an oline store and promoting the crap out of it. it looks like Avon halds everything on the tech end and people just need to type in your name.

Thank you for the advice

I do have an online store with Avon which I would think would make it easier to promote/etc. I have a link on my Facebook page and have sent an email out to friends/family to let them know I've started my business...but so far......just crickets.
I'm not terribly outgoing and I HATE to sell. I realize that I should not be in direct sales

but I really need the extra money and Avon sort of sells itself (imo).
I haven't gotten my start up kit yet ...so when I do, I will be able to hand out fliers too...but I'm not the door to door type so we'll see.
Thanks again for your input...I really appreciate it
