Perpetual Fussiness?

Thread Starter
My baby is 4 months old and has more or less been constantly fussy since he was 3 months old. I'm sure the holidays didn't help there in the middle of it all, and I wonder if he's going through a growth spurt or something....but really? When will it end?
It's wearing me out. He's only happy being held, but yet hates being in slings and wraps. He also wakes up way more often to eat at night which doesn't improve my mood at all.

Is it possible he could be teething? I know it may seem early, but some babies really do start that early. You could check and see if he is showing any signs on his gums, and maybe you could try teething tablets or tylenol and see if that helps improve his mood or his sleeping at night, he could just be uncomfortable if he is teething. He sounds a lot like my niece when she was teething and I think she started around his age. Luckily my LO (5 months) hasn't been too fussy with teething (yet)... Good luck!

I vote teething-no it is not too early my DD had teeth at 3.5 months, my DS has had them since 3 months. The fussiness started about 2.5 months for him, he's now 3.5 months and is still Mr Crankypants at times.

Teething is an extremely painful process.

Check out the high needs babies tribe in this forum. Perhaps your ds is like those who we discuss there.

I'd say he might be tired. Especially with the holidays. 3 mo is around the time when babies stop falling asleep easily on their own and wake up easily as well. You may want to try to log his hours somewhat and make sure he's geting what he needs. Even one missed nap can send them into crankytown for a whole day or two.
