Intro...Hoping to foster-adopt

Can I join y'all?

This is third time DH have tried to foster-adopt (we've withdrawn our app both times before - complicated!) and it's a totally different ball game this time around. We are in a new state and the difference is astounding. I have hope that things will work out this time.

Where we are at... well...we submitted our paperwork 3 months ago and are currently approved to foster. According to our worker our homestudy is allmost complete but we haven't had any interviews or classes yet other than our initial meeting. I need to follow up with her again to find out more about what is left to be done. We are currently getting our extra rooms ready and will be set up for 3 kiddos. Ideally we'd like to adopt siblings but we'll see what happens.

I also got an email yesterday asking of we would be interested in being submitted for a 2 yr old girl that has become available. I told her we'd love to learn more.

I'm not sure what to make of everything. Our previous experiences were just so awful. This all seems just to easy. But for now, we'll just continue to go along for the ride and see what happens.

I am excited to get to know everyone on here! Thanks for reading.

Welcome and what an exciting place to be!

I hope you find friends and support here... I know I have. Let us know how it goes with your potential placement.

It also took me 3 tries, in 3 different states, to meet my children. Adoption is looking pretty definite. One has been in my home more than 2 years, her little brother joined us last April. There is some chance the 6 YO twin sisters may end up here too.

It has been a roller coaster, but hold on to your hats, and enjoy the wild ride!

Welcome! We are in the process of completing our paperwork, and have taken our 16 hours of classes. My hope is that we will be approved ad a foster-adop resource by the end of the school year...

...and then be immediately matched with a beautiful, affectionate, non-traumatized child prodigy who was wafted down from heaven on the wings of angels and landed in front of the DSS office wearing a sign around his neck saying "I belong to Smithie."

(Kidding! I kid! But we really are in the process of doing our paperwork.)

Welcome to the rollercoaster ride!

I waited for a long time with one agency to do a "straight adoption" (no fostering), switched agencies, got a foster license and was almost immediately placed with a healthy three week old beautiful baby boy who went almost immediately to TPR. I am now fostering an almost 2 yr old boy who i MAY get to adopt (its all kind of up in the air now but i should know something more definitive next month), and if i am able to adopt him i hope to adopt his half sister as well. If he goes home, then i think i will stop fostering and try to adopt another child who is already legally free. (In my state you dont have to foster in order to adopt.)

Thats exciting that you're already being considered for a child, at least you are on your sw's radar!
