Anyone do TF and also are gluten and dairy free?

So I think that TF and gluten free are doable together, but I am also dairy free. Since TF really focuses on butter and other animal dairy fats, is it doable or perhaps would I be too restricted? I also cannot eat vinegar or acidic foods like citrus (I wish I could but I have a health condition they aggravate) so many pickled foods are out for me as well. I just want to be realistic if this is going to work for me with my other restrictions!

I'm a very interested newbie.

Absolutely. We are gluten, dairy, corn, soy, almond, orange free, and we are able to do it just fine!

Check out these resources: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...1&postcount=86

And http://tfrecipes.com (Everything has a dairy/gluten free option.)

And http://everythingfreeeating.blogspot.com (TF recipes by an allergen free mama--she is both dairy and gluten free.)

Coconut milk and coconut oil are your dairy free friends. And for other good fats, there is always lard and tallow. We have dairy intolerance issues and are fine w/ ghee, fwiw.

And I really don't need to use vinegar for anything--especially 'pickled' or lacto-fermented foods, so no big deal there IMO. You can ferment veggies (and other stuff) w/out whey or citrus or vinegar (etc.).

You'll find lots of people come to TF in search of healing, and many are on more restrictive diets. Dairy and gluten are certainly not necessary to being TF...WAPF emphasizes dairy quite a bit, but there are tons of alternatives...

Totally easy! I'm not 100% dairy free, but I don't eat any grain at all and only use the occasional bit of butter or cheese. It's seems easier to have a TF diet without gluten and dairy than some other diets-- partly because if you want to eat gluten on a TF diet, you have to sprout it, and I can't commit to that. TF sort of pulls the shift away from SAD foods like breads and pastas, etc anyway, so...

Plus, there are soooo many yummy fat options with TF. We do lots of lard in our house which is incredibly cheap (even the good quality pastured type) and we also enjoy coconut oil. If I don't want to use butter on my veggies, I'll saute them in another oil or serve them raw with a dairy/gluten free salad dressing or make them southern style-- greens with garlic, bone broth, and a big ham bone just can't be beat.

Me too! I'm gluten, dairy, soy and random long list of other things-free. I am mostly grain-free as well and only eat a couple of servings a week.

It is completely doable. You can swap stuff out - for instance, I make a brown rice sourdough bread and I spread bacon grease on it instead of butter. It is yummy! I also use tallow and poultry fat for cooking. You don't have to eat a lot of ferments, but even a bite or two can give you benefits with digestion if you can tolerate it.
