Targeting a specific body part for weight loss?

Is this possible? From my understanding it is not, though it is possible to firm up that area with weight training. But I need to lose FAT.....MASS.

My problem is that I have 10-15 lbs to lose, ALL of it is on my thighs (and butt, though that does not trouble me as much). If my whole body had the fat content of my arma and upper body, I'd weigh 120lbs. However, if my whole body looked like my thighs I'd weigh a good 170! (I weigh 135, btw)

Is there any hope to make me more proportionate?

This is not only a cosmetic problem - I cannot fit into pants/jeans. I have tried 50+ pairs of jeans lately, including the new shape enhancing "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" that are supposedly cut generously. NONE fit. I need a size 6 for my waist and a 12-14 for my thighs

I guess if I lose weight/fat, it will come off my thighs eventually, but my upper body always gets SO skinny and my thighs are still flabby

TIA

nope not possible without surgery & even then it often comes back.

You can weight train to make leaner muscle which WILL make you have smaller thighs & it WILL make your metabolism higher thus burning more fat faster, but it won't burn the fat itself.

If your upper body gets quite skinny then you should weight train your upper body too. It won't add fat, but it'll become more toned instead of just skinny looking.

I know it's not the advice you're looking for, but just on the pants issue, a decent tailor can take in the waistbands on pants that fit your hips and thighs well. My mom and I both have a lean body shape similar to what you describe, and we both have found at times in our lives that admitting straight off the rack pants just weren't for us went a long way to make us happier with our bodies overall.

I have exactly the same body type and the only answer I've found is to lift heavy so that I build upper body muscle mass, and reduce body fat until it comes off my thighs. I need the upper body muscle mass to make me not look skinny on top. I lift heavy for lower body too, but you can't see the muslce until my body fat is low, like 16%. By that time my upper body is skeletal...unless I have the muscle mass.
