Hooray! We've been exposed to CP! Help!

I'm so excited! We were unknowingly exposed to chicken pox!

But, I have three kids (4, 2, and 10 mo) and I am hoping to encourage a milder case of it. Are probiotics and vit C a good idea?

Any suggestions on what to do/not do when (if?) they get it?

Thanks!

I'd say daily doses of Vit C, garlic, echinacea and astragalus to boost the immune. Probiotics and extra Vit D couldn't hurt either! Limit dairy and sugar. BF (those still nursing) as much as possible!

Vitamin C and Cod liver oil. Have some homeopathic sulphur on hand in case it gets really itchy. My son did fine, he had one bad night when he got pretty itchy but I gave him a dose of sulphur and he was fine the next day. Much easier than the common cold in our case.

Thanks! I'm already dosing them on the vit C. How much would you give? I've read that you can actually stop the virus all together by giving the child enough C, but then, of course, you miss the benefits of immunity, which I want. What cod liver oil do you use?

Both my children have had chicken pox. My DD had a very mild case and I didn't do anything different than we normally do. My DS had pox everywhere, head to toe, a mild fever for a few days, and was very very itchy. For him, we gave him cod liver oil daily (garden of life brand), an EmergenC packet a day and let him drink orange juice (we aren't big proponents of juice, but when my kids aren't feeling the best, I do let them have it). Daily I would put vitamin E oil on every bump several times (he'd tell me when he was starting to get itchy again and I'd put the oil on). He liked oatmeal baths (we'd put the oatmeal in a sock in the bath). I also fed him organic yogurt with powdered probiotics (garden of life) in it every morning. He got through it just fine. . .only one scar on his eyelid (I didn't want to put the oil on his eyes). I would recommend calling your doc to have the case documented or at least taking tons of pics just so you have a record. . .we didn't do this with DD and I wish we would have.
