I EC'd DD while at home and she was fully potty trained by 16 months. I kept DD in diapers for most of the time. Anyway, I used Fuzzi Bunz, some Happy Heineys, cotton diapers without covers, and some misic other diapers with her. I loaned my stash of small Fuzzi Bunz and hope to get them back by the time my son is born in late April. However, I want/need more diapers and am looking at all sorts of options. I need something easy to open to get to the potty ASAP, so I prefer the aplix closure. What is everyone using these days for diapers with EC?

Hi Shazer
There are so many things that people use, and it really comes down to personal preference. A lot of people are falling in love with EcaPants. They are one-wet training pants, so if you are doing EC and changing after every wet then there really is no need for a regular diaper. I think they are the most convenient option out there. They do have the option for velcro or aplix. waterproof or not. [Full disclosure: I sell EcaPants, and so do several other retailers-- and they are often available used on the ECSwap Yahoo group.] I think the most popular diapering option for EC'ing newborns is a prefold w/ prefold belt just from observation of posts... but there are many fitted diapers available with aplix/velcro now. Are you wanting something waterproof or not? I think that is the most important factor.

at the moment I'm using the Gdiaper covers with a cloth diaper instead of the flushables. I've found that they are easier to keep clean because you can remove the plastic piece and wash it in the sink if it gets dirty and the cloth part rarely gets dirty so you can wash it less often. they have velcro closures and I can easily get them off for potty time.
If I'm going on a long trip and washing the occasional cloth diaper won't be an option I can get some flushables.
I only got 2 and with 3 plastic "insides" it seems to be enough. They seem to cost more online then at the stores I've found them in.

i have the grobaby diapers! they are amazing. i have to shells which have like mesh inside so the dry quick if they get wet but you put 6 layer organic cotton "pad" in it that snaps in and hold alot of pee! you can even use them at night with the booster pad and the regular pad. no prefolds needed! plus they fit from newborn to 35lbs. if the pad gets wet just grab another one and snap it in. simple. i usually dont even have to wash the shell b/c we EC and she does so well at it. i have 2 shells and 8pads and 2 booster pads all together was $96 so thats 8 diaper changes. you never have to buy more.

I like fitteds with snaps, honestly. I don't have any trouble getting them off for potty, i just undo one side usually. I like a diaper to be able to hold in runny poop in case of a miss, so snappi'd prefolds and fitteds are what I like best, with wool soakers over top. I did try ecapants and they are fine, but i actually found them to be a bit fiddly and not quite absorbent enough for a full pee... but I will keep the ones I got and use them again on my next baby.
