at what age a toddler?

Is a 12 month old a toddler?

Silly question, I know... but I feel like my 11 month old baby is a toddler-in-training. She's not quite walking yet, but she's extremely mobile. And I feel like she's becoming more demanding, and vocal about it, like a toddler.

But she's not quite a toddler, because she doesn't walk, and doesn't usually seem to understand my directions ("Paige come here- follow mommy! Let's go potty!" etc). She's understanding more and more every day though. What a crazy time!

I consider a toddler when they are walking and starting to run around.... starting to talk and feed themselves.

Ds became a toddler the day he turned 13 months! I swear it was instantly a change, throwing fits & all!

I think it's when they start walking or todling

I had assumed that there would be a period after Lina started walking where she'd continue to be in the pre-toddler stage that she was in when she had to hold our hands to walk. Instead her transition to being a toddler was directly connected to walking by herself.

That said, go ahead and read and post in this forum. You might not see your dd in the threads and responses, but you'll be happy for the warning. And there's definitely more people in this area who remember those pre-walking proto-toddler days clearly than anywhere else in MDC.
