How about IDing my dog too

As I mentioned in another poster's thread, we ran a dog DNA test on our 10 month old puppy. Since I am skeptical that a 45lb solid white dog with short hair is comprised primarily of the large, hairy breeds that the dog DNA company tells us she is, what do you all think Bianca has in her? We got giant schnauzer and chow chow from the DNA kit .

What a cutie pie! I'd guess husky/lab or lab/pit maybe? Her eyes are throwing me for a loop - what colour are they?

One of her eyes is a gold/green color. The other eye is half crystal blue (like the color you get on an aussie or husky) and half gold/brown.

We are leaning toward siberian husky and something else. The light pink lips are unusual and had us looking at pharoah hounds and viszlas as well.

Yeah, it's the light coloured lips and nose that made me think pit.

1/2 cutie & 1/2 patootie!

but, i would guess a Pittie / Hound cross - she's def. got a pit head and ears, but her body is tapered like a hound. by tapered i mean it looks like she's got a deep chest but skinny hips.

So, do you definitely think that I can rule out the giant schnauzer/chow that the DNA folks insist is the case ? I got some big spiel from them on recessive genes and how she also showed signs of many other breeds that were too minor to identify, but she definitely had one grandparent who was a purebred chow and one who was a purebred giant schnauzer.

I think she's 25% chow, 25% giant schnauzer, and 50% chihuahua.

Or Pit/lab/husky.

Yeah, I'd say that they either mixed up the samples, or they need to work on their DNA recognition technique some more.

Lol! Someone else if probably arguing with them currently about how his 100 lb. long haired dog can't possibly be a jack russell terrier mix!

Ha! But what a cutie!

Here is an article you may relate to - the Chicago Tribune food critic had his mutt DNA tested, and was told his 45 lb husky looking dog was primarily.... dachshund!

Methinks this technology needs some refining....

I'm wondering if she could have some Weimaraner in her.

The colouring reminds me of a bull terrier.

lab/husky/bull terrier?

She is adorable! I have a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and have seen many Catahoula mixes, she could have some in her. Her eye color, the shape of her head and ears. She has nothing about her that looks like a Chow, nothing.

Thank you all for your replies and telling me that my girl is adorable, as we think she is .

I had seen some Catahoula Leopard Dog pics and wondered about that as an option myself. I'm guessing that she will always remain a mystery. Oh well!

Dd#1 and I volunteer at our local humane society and one of the ladies who works there told me that they did a DNA test on one of their dogs whose mother was a pure-bred AKC registered Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Daddy dog was an unknown. Her dog came back with zero Chesapeake Bay Retriever in it even though that was one of the possible breeds on the breed list from the company whose test they used. So, I'm kind of thinking that these things may be a fun waste of $. Perhaps they should ask for a photo at the start so they can at least guess well!

Hey, look what I found. Here's a photo of a certified purebred 6 month old Catahoula Leopard Dog: http://www.greatdogsite.com/photos/g...d_Dog/?index=8

Here's my dog at about 7 months: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46523630@N07/4279889171/

She actually looks quite a bit like a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Maybe I'll try to pass her off as one .

I would bet she is part catahoula, most of the time they are not solid in color, thats why I would say she is a mix. Do you know where she came from?
Here is my guy.

i think maybe catahoula and sharpei, does she have any health issues that could point to a specific breed?

What a beautiful dog, cycle!

Jackies Ladybug, She is only 10 months old right now and, no we don't have any health issues. I hope that this remains the case! We got her from the humane society. Someone dumped her in the yard of a lady who does foster care for animals when she was about 2 months old. She was somewhat starved and her back foot was a bit chewed up, so we have no idea what happened to her in her first months of life.

She put on weight beautifully and healed up fine, though. She's still a huge pig who eats like nothing I've ever seen, though! We had to buy her a special bowl called a "break fast" which has pegs that stick up out of the center so she can't inhale her food.

WOW! She looks so.much. like our dog! She's lighter complectioned all around, but her ears and coat and shape of her face look like Nellie.

Nellie's mom was an American Staffordshire Terrier (similar to but not the same as an American Pit Bull Terrier) and the family of her dam think that she was sired by the neighbor dog who was a Goldadore (Golden Lab/Golden Retriever mix).

Bianca looks more Pit than AmStaff to me, based on her coloring, though- my brother has blue nose pits that have similar eye color and nose color.
