My 21 month old has some tooth decay...I took her to a pretty nice dentist - she seems quite open, and although she recommended that I stop breastfeeding dd at night, she said that she breastfed both of her kids throughout the night until they were about two.
Dd eats quite well. I am attempting to better her diet and further limit the frequency in which she consumes junkier stuff.
My question is - should I try to stop breastfeeding at night? I see information that says that bm is certainly not the cause of tooth decay, but then I also see that some mamas on here are limiting bm at night due to dental issues. I want to do what I can to keep dd's teeth healthy, and like I said, I am putting even more effort into improving her diet, but I am curious about the bf at night. What do you think? In light of potentially serious dental problems (in a 21 month old), should bf be limited at night? Or not, since kellymom.com and other sources say that bm is beneficial to teeth, as opposed to harmful...

By the way...dd nurses ALL night long! Constantly!
