16.5 weeks PG... Braxton-Hicks already?

The title sums it up pretty nicely. I think I've had a few really, really mild ones previous to yesterday - but yesterday I had a whopper of one. I was pushing a cart at Super Wal-Mart and the stupid thing was one of those carts that just doesn't push well . So once I had two bags of cat litter and a bag of cat food in it, it pushed WAY WORSE. I think it was making me really strain to get it to turn corners. Anyway, I ended up having a really, really strong B-H. It didn't hurt AT ALL, just felt like my uterus got all tight and balled up.

I did some Google research, and it seemed to be relatively normal, though early, but as long as not painful or coupled with bleeding, nothing serious.

Anyone else have them so early? I do figure if I get any more big ones I'll call my doc, or just wait until my appt. on 1/25.

(Oh, and just in case, this is pgcy #2 - but with DD I didn't get them until way past 30 weeks.)

TIA!

I varies with each person and with each pregnancy. I started getting them at 16 weeks with my first, and 14 weeks with my second. My whole family is the same kind of way.

I've always been told that unless they are accompanied by pain, bleeding or are more than 5-6 in an hour then they are nothing to worry about.

Learn what triggers them. For me it's dehydration, orgasm, need to pee, lifting heavy items etc...

May they stay irregular and not annoy you too much, mama!!

I'm really sensitive to everything during pregnancy and started feeling them BY 6 weeks with DD2 and by 8 weeks or so with this baby. With DD1 I didn't feel them for sure until 17 weeks when I SAW my belly tighten up but I didn't know what they felt like before that point either.

After my first, I started feeling them at around 13 weeks, not necessarily earlier with each subsequent pregnancy, just more pronounced.

I started having a LOT around 20 weeks, which is normal because there is a lot of big changes going on with the uterus-growing out of the pelvis and such, at that time.

Well, good to know its not totally crazy to have them so soon. My Mom had them early on with her last pgcy, but it was pgcy #5 and she was 42 (and eventually diagnosed with irritable uterus). So that made her and my sister a little nervous about why I would have them so soon too...

At my 9.5 week u/s only one baby bean noted! So unless the other was hiding really, really good - twins are unlikely!

Good idea... obviously straining to push a heavy grocery cart does, so I'll avoid that in the future! I also probably hadn't had enough to drink. I'll have to pay attention for anything else.

Thanks again ladies!

I have them all the time. Well not ALL the time but at least a couple every day. Every woman's uterus 'practice' contracts this early but the variable is who feels it and who doesn't. Kind of like baby movements.
Like you read, as long as it isn't accompanied by bleeding, cramping and are infrequent they aren't worrisome. Stay hydrated and empty your bladder frequently.

I have them plenty early too (late 1st tri). I could probably say I have an 'irritable uterus'...but I carry them about a week past my due date so it's apparently normal for me!!!

I didn't have them at all w/ my first pregnancy. With this one (twins), I think I started having them around 11-12 weeks! I thought something was wrong, because for me, they kinda hurt. But I learned that they were just early BH.
