ok a little embarassing

i noticed today that there is a big purple lump on the lip of my vagina. The skin is not irritated and i wouldn't even have known it was there if i hadn't felt it with my hand while washing. I am having problems with veins this pregnancy and it does resemble a vein but it is a lump! Has this happened to anyone else? Should I have my midwife look at it?

I had something similar that turned out to be a boil... but yes, any sort of lump (even one that looks like a vein) is enough to be checked out to know for sure it is fine. Better safe than sorry

I would get it checked out but varicose veins on labia are fairly common during pregnancy. I googled in and got lots of info.

def get it checked but could be vulvar varicosities, which is common and not so bad in the grand scheme of things...

I had one of those years ago, (pre-pregnancy) and it turned out to be some kind of boil or something. It seemed to sprout up overnight and it was gone after a few days.

Yep, me too. I was about 10 weeks when it happened-- I was out of town, so I didn't go see the midwives, and by the time I got home it was gone.

Way too much info, but since you asked: There was so much vaginal discharge at that time that it's kindof hard to tell (), but I *think* what happened is that in wiping one morning the cyst/boil/whatever it was ruptured (it looked like there was pus or something on the wipe), and after that, the discomfort subsided within a day.
