Will my provider respect my decisions? (Informed Consent Resource)

Informed consent is a big deal when it comes to preparing for birth. We expect that we'll be given the opportunity to give permission to any dr/nurse/midwife before something is done during our baby's birth. BUT so often women describe how that doesn't happen, and they either don't consent to something be done, are forced to consent or don't understand what they are consenting to.

So that's the background for why I'm posting this:

Wouldn't it be better to know early in pregnancy that a provider doesn't like the idea of a woman making decisions for herself that may in fact counter the opinion and recommendations of the provider?

If you end up using this set of questions when establishing a care relationship during your pregnancy, can you let me know and tell me about your experience? Just PM me.

Looks good!!
Don't know if you considered it, but I really think the Q, "What do you think of doulas?" is a great litmus test. Since doulas often provide further information for mamas & encourage them to ask more Qs & stand up for themselves, an opposition to doulas is very likely an indication of a provider who prefers purely submissive, obedient patients.
