How do you do a toddler and newborn in one bed?

I am 2.5 months away from having 2 in my bed. A 2 1/2 year old and a newborn. How do you do this? What advice do you have for me? DS the toddler is not ready to sleep on his own yet (nor am I ready for the sleep loss of getting up at night to tend to him plus a newborn).

Just keep them seperated. As in don't put them next to each other, have yourself or your SO between them. Or you and SO in the middle and a child on each side.
That is because kids aren't aware of babies like you are, so they could kick or hit the baby, or roll over them. (In their sleep, obviously.)
Otherwise we love co-sleeping.

same situation here. 4 months away from ds2 being here. is your older lo night weened? that might help if you don't have to nurse the toddler at night. i have a toddler bed next to my king size. he hasnt gotten used to the idea of being in his own bed yet but we are working on the transition.

Just do not have the toddler and newborn next to one another. Our set up is this, baby, Me, DS, then DH on other end. We have a co-sleeper on the side where the baby is.

Good luck!

at 7.5 months and almost 3 mine still dont sleep next to each other. haha. the baby will wake up dd, and she wakes up the baby! we have 2 full size mattresses on the floor and pretty much it usually ends up dd on one then me, dh and baby. unless we are having a rough night then it is dd, me, baby and dh sleeps alone. its worked out great for us! plenty of room yet we are all still together. once we all woke up in one bed, it was pretty funny
